I'd love fall more if . . .

It didn't mean winter is coming.  And I'd love winter more if it meant snow.

But I'm just whining - I hate to be cold so I'm thinking sweaters and turning up the heat!

Right now, I'm going to thing positively about fall and breathtaking beauty in the Georgia mountains, lots of customers who need us to clean for them and enjoying the crisp weather.  Of course, it is still 91 degrees.  Ok, maybe fall isn't so bad.

Smelling something musty? Time to clean!

If you are smelling musty odors in closets, basements and other areas that tend to be closed off and damp, welcome to Georgia!

Keeping the air flowing through basements and closets can help a lot -- keep the doors open, install and run ceiling fans and air conditioning if possible.

I have one kitchen cupboard where the pots and pans are close to the sink. It seems to have a musty smell if the door is closed, so I try to keep it open. No discernable leaks or problems, just always is an issue in the summer. Door open--no problem.

If you do have water damage, from rainwater, a pipe or other clean water spill, you must act quickly. The clock starts ticking and within 3 days, you have a real problem and may need mold remediation.

If we can get to you quickly, and you also react appropriately, a simple spray with mildew preventative and drying time should help. Sometimes the carpet pad may need to be replaced, but hey, pad is cheap. Better a little pad than a whole room of carpet, the wallboard and trim replaced with mold remediation!

Definitely you do not want to introduce more water into the area if you already have musty smells. That only feeds the problem. So use All-Star Chem-Dry, with 90% less water, and extraction of the water we do use.

Even if you don't have water damage, putting gallons of soapy water into your pad and carpet is not good for it. Squishing the dirty water back up by stepping on the carpet (who can stay off the carpet for 3 days?) is not good.
